Cold Therapy Benefits

  Cold therapy is one of most common types of passive, non-invasive, and non-addictive therapies. Medical studies indicate that cold therapy is an effective way to relieve pain & aches. Cold therapy is commonly used to relieve acute pain (the first 24-48 hours of an injury). How does it work? Applying cold to your tissue results in the narrowing of your blood vessels (vasoconstriction). Slowing the blood flow and other fluids into the injured tissue reduces swelling, muscle spasm, pain and inflammation. Cold therapy is commonly used to treat discomforts such as joint sprains (the first 48 hours), bruises, black & blue marks, swelling, fever, sunburns and more.
  • The recommended duration of cold therapy treatment is 5-10 minutes.
