Fly In Comfort Not Pain: Traveling Tips

We all know the travel drill — the packing, planning, hiring the dog sitter, finding someone to water, heading to the airport, trudging through baggage check, waiting for the flight. And then you get on the plane, hoping to relax, maybe get some shut-eye. But you’re cramped, your neighbor is chatty, there’s nowhere to rest your head, the food is, well, airplane food. And after a few hours, you just can’t sit anymore. Your legs are stiff and spasming. Your neck gets a crick. And then the headache comes on.
Alright, we’ll stop there. You get it. And we don’t want you to get a headache just thinking about it. Especially because there are a few simple traveling tips to make your flight much more pleasant and comfortable, so when you arrive at your destination, you feel more refreshed than haggard.

Useful Traveling Tips

  • Drink plenty of water before and during your flight -The altitude adds to dehydration and makes its effects worse. Staying hydrated staves off headaches and muscle aches. Most airlines offer bottled or canned sparkling water and flat water in-flight.
  • Before and during your trip, eat a diet rich in raw food – avoid junk food, processed food, sugar and grains, which tax your immune system. Throw some raw almonds and fresh fruit in your bag to snack on during the flight if needed and to keep you from eating those little-processed snack packs and drinking soda.
  • Use a lavender sleep mask or neck-fitting therapy pack/pillow – Lavender and its aroma are known (and research have proven) to sooth and calm, relieve pain from headaches, bring on sleep, and help with digestive issues like nausea, gas and upset stomach, to name a few.
