Calm Your Baby Naturally With Lavender

Parents are like multitasking ninjas. Some even have superhero powers when it comes to taking care of their kids. But when it comes to calming a fussy baby, all bets are off and superpowers are out the window. That’s when it’s time to call in Miss Poppins and a spoonful of lavender. Lavender?!

Yes, that’s right. We said lavender. Because lavender — as proven by scientific studies and moms and dads in the trenches — has amazing calming, soothing, relaxing, deep-sleep-inducing and even healing qualities. Plus, it smells fabulous for baby and the whole crew!

How lavender can help you Calm Your Baby Naturally

Relaxing lavender massage – Let baby enjoy a calming lavender massage. Try ready-to-use lavender massage oil or mix a few drops of pure, all-natural lavender essential oil into sweet almond oil (“carrier oil”) to create your own. Lavender is one of the most gentle essential oils and a few drops in the carrier oil is by far enough for baby’s skin. You can also use pre-mixed lavender essential oil roll-ons just for kids. Massage some into yourself while you’re at it!

Soothing lavender bath – Add two to three drops of pure all-natural essential oil to baby’s bath. For you, add five to ten drops.

A Calming lavender scent in baby’s room – Use a diffuser with lavender essential oil or a lavender mister during naps and at bedtime.

Sweet-smelling lavender laundry   Add a few drops of lavender essential oil to baby’s laundry (including crib sheets).

Smooth lavender car ride – We all know that a crying baby in the car is just the worst. To help keep the peace, sprinkle a few drops of lavender essential oil on baby’s car seat or blanket. An all-natural lavender-filled therapy pack, like the one at Nature Creation with the soft fleece on one side and cotton on the other, is also an option. Simply place it on the seat next to baby’s car seat. The cool, soothing aroma will fill the air.

Please note that essential oils are extremely concentrated. Follow usage directions carefully and keep the bottle tightly closed and out of the reach of children.
